Numbness feels as if you were trapped inside a vacuum, detached from your emotions. It is like waking up and not feeling your arm after sleeping on it in a weird position all night. You know it is still part of your body, but temporarily, it feels as if it was not connected to you.
Emotional numbness means you are feeling disconnected from the world and yourself while at the same time you are fully aware of what you’re lacking. No sadness, no happiness. Just a numb feeling inside your mind that seems almost physical. Everything else is gone or has fallen asleep. It is uncomfortable, alarming and scary.
Thinking you won’t be able to feel again.
